Ag Town of the Year Awards

Agricultural Town of the Year Award

Established in 2019, the South Australian Agricultural Town of the Year Award recognises South Australian towns that are excelling in agricultural practices and the flow on effect they have on communities.

This award is proudly presented by the Government of South Australia and Solstice Media and highlights the vital role that agriculture plays in the regional landscape – being the backbone of most regional communities.

In addition to being recognised as the ‘South Australian Agricultural Town of the Year’, the winning town receives:

  • town entrance sign recognising their achievement
  • certificate and trophy presented by the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development
  • community event and sign unveiling to celebrate the town’s achievement
  • double-page feature in SALIFE magazine.

2021 Ag Town of the Year

Congratulations to Kimba, Eyre Peninsula

The Eyre Peninsula farming town of Kimba has been named South Australia’s 2021 Agricultural Town of the Year.

Located at the midway point between Australia’s East and West coasts, the vibrant town finished ahead of Booleroo Centre, Kapunda, Mypolonga and Orroroo to take the prize as the state’s premier agriculture town.

Kimba has a rich agricultural history being at the forefront of South Australian dry land agriculture and it is a tradition that continues today. This is a town where the younger generation are the driving force behind so many initiatives and spurring on the rest of the community.
